Going to the Fair

We spent Saturday baking bread and making cookies. Camden was on the counter helping me out when he discovered the fruit bowl. He grabbed a nectarine and helped himself! He was very surprised to take a bite and discover it to be something that was yummy! He polished off the entire thing, with a grin and a "mmmm, yum".

Sunday evening after LONG naps we headed over to the fair. The kids loved the legos section!

And of course the animals! Tiana really enjoyed it this year and pet almost all of the animals! This little calf didn't look near as scary as the big huge cows!
Keaton has a way with animals, he always has. They will always let him pet them and love on them! Such a special little boy!
Tiana loving them from a distance!
Camden did great as long as we didn't get the stroller to close to the cages!
I helped him out of the stroller to see the little goats.
The entire time he was squealing.... not exactly happy squeals!

The both loved brushing this huge cow in the petting zoo.

We stopped by the Blue and Orange booth and had to get a photo of our little Bronco boy in this hat!

lil' man Camden

For Camden's 13 month photos I wanted to do some photos of him in some of Daddy's ties. I have never done this before but I love the look and the way they turned out!
Putting his hat on... or attempting to!
We tried a few with no shirt but he was NOT fond of the idea!
Once he got his hat, shoes and shirt on he was good to go, with some animal cracker incentive of course!

His new funny face!

Looking up at the flag.

Trying on a new tie!

Back in the Groove

This past weekend I got back into the sewing groove! I made a pair of pajama pants for Keaton out of this adorable cars flannel. Wow, talk about a fast easy project. He LOVES them. This kid grows out of pajamas faster than anyone! He isn't even 4 and his 4T's are way to short. So I made these plenty big with a large hem so that we can let them out when they get too short in a few months! Keaton was so very excited to get something made for him!

Making sure that they "sleep" ok!
I then spent WAY too much time on this skirt from Sandi Henderson's book "Sewing Bits and Pieces". This was not even on my "project list" but I have been waiting and waiting for this book from the library and finally got it. It only had a 14 day check-out so I thought I better whip up this skirt in a hurry! It only uses scraps.... 56 pieces total.... 6 each of 9 prints! That was a perfect way for me to use the little pieces I had of leftover fabric from different projects. I had decided that I would NEVER make this pattern again because that is a LOT of ruffles (5 strips of 40 inch fabric for the bottom cream ruffle alone! That is 200 inches!!!!!) and 56 rectangles.... all top stitched..... you get the picture! However.... Tiana took one look at it and fell in love.....
it twirls so nicely.....
looks so cute when she sits....
makes this girl grin from ear to ear......
and makes her jump REALLY high......
Here is a close up. I finished off two spools of thread (granted they had been used some... but not a ton) and went through 5 bobbins!

But she loves it so it was worth every minute!
I added the flower at the very end to break up the cream top portion. The flower is on a pin so it can be moved around also. I had originally planned to put pink polkadots as the waist band but ended up going with a simple cream to show off the ruffles.
And on a completely different note, Keaton is all signed up for preschool!!! They also spent the afternoon jumping off the couch.

Camden trying.... he bends WAY down then stands back up, thinking he has jumped but not going anywhere! He didn't get hurt this way and thought he was jumping just like his brother and sister!
