Tiana

Well this little girl despite looking alright is one sick cookie.  I just knew yesterday that something was wrong, call it mothers intuition... she has never been this cranky.  She was just beside herself crying and saying that her head hurt and her tummy hurt and it hurt when she coughed.  She just would curl up in my lap and cry.  I have never seen her like this... she is tough and never complains... she has had a double ear infection and never complained at all... so when she complains I KNOW something is up.  I got her into her doctor today and found out that she has pneumonia!!!!!!  Never thought I would be relieved to have her have pneumonia. However, this is better than having her asthma be so bad that all her meds don't keep it under control even when she doesn't have a cold!  That to me is WAY scarier!  So now she going to be starting on an antibiotic as well as another round of Prednisone.  She had to have an x-ray done and she was amazing!  She stood still and didn't even cry!  So we will get her better and get her into the specialist on the 2nd.  Of course the pneumonia developed because of her asthma so it will be wonderful to get her some help so that we can prevent this in the future.  In the meantime, we will keep her away from any more germs.  Looks like fun places like Monkey Bizness and Jabbers is out for a while for Tiana, we can't chance that she get sick again until we can get her asthma under control.  I am so glad that we decided to take her in because since this morning she has started running a fever and has been freezing cold (those of you who know her know that she is our little hot bug and is NEVER cold).  Can't wait for the meds to kick in!
Tiana and Daddy stayed home from mtg last night and they had fun, just Daddy daughter time.  They made a fun new recipe (more about this later).

She was being a GOON!

Her crown!

Pretending to listen to her brain!

Today Grandma came over to help with the boys while we spend 2 1/2 hours in the doctor's office.  She borrowed her reading glasses and loved them.  They looked so cute on her.

I am so so ready for her to be our normal goofball all the time like usual.  I can't stand to only see this little girl for a few minutes a day!  It has been three weeks since she first got a cold and so it is about time she gets back to normal!

Creating

Our pillows for the couch needed replaced so I got fabric that has been needing to be sewn for a couple months now.  I finally had the chance to sit down and get them done.  They took no time at all (besides the hand sewing them shut) and I love how they all turned out.

Three different fabrics but all the same color.  You can tell our couch is microfiber, I should have smoothed it out before I took photos but in reality this is how they always looks with three little kids!

I also finished a purse for myself for an upcoming girls weekend.  The flowers are on a pin so that I can take them off to wash the purse.

Free tutorial and pattern here.

The other side looks like this so if I am not feeling flowery or if I decide to wear the flower I have this side.

Close-up of the flowers and piping detail.

Another project on my to-do list has been this jacket.  Besides getting the pattern (Oliver + S Sunday Brunch Jacket) the fabric was all fabric that I had.  The corduroy was left over from Camden's crib set that I got for $1 a yard at JoAnn's.  The lining is left over from this dress.  I love being able to use my stash for something that she needs.

Inside view.  I love how Oliver + S patterns are always so finished inside and out.  I fought with this facing a little bit, not sure what I did wrong.  I will get a lot of use out of this pattern, I love being able to make her jackets.  I am looking forward to doing it again and trying to figure out where I went wrong.  Not that you can tell at ALL now but I have used Oliver + S patterns enough to know that this shouldn't have been a normal problem to have.

Of course she loves it.  It will work well next Fall also since I can always let down the sleeves.  This is a size 4.

Back view.

The one thing that I would do different next time is not actually have it button.  I would sew the button holes (for looks) and then sew the buttons right on top.  I will then add magnetic snaps on the inside so that she can get it on and off by herself.  She gets mad because she can't unbutton it by herself.

Last but not least are their superhero capes! Tutorial found here.  I got the fabric at Hobby Lobby and each of the kids got to choose their color.  I was going to put the first letter of their name on the back but decided that I would just do a strip of lightning and call it good.  That way if Keaton decided that he wanted red he could trade Camden!

Needless to say, they were a hit!!!  They don't even really know what superheros are yet but over Christmas they had capes made out of towels and LOVED them!

Apparently capes make you run REALLY fast!

I really regretted letting Tiana run one lap around the back yard since it got her asthma going really bad again!  However this was the happiest that she was all day so maybe it was worth it. She is back on Prednisone (as well as her other meds) and it hasn't really helped that much yet.  We have another call into her doctor for tomorrow.  We have a referral to a pediatric Pulmonologist and have an appointment on March 2nd to do some allergy testing and get her asthma under control hopefully.  Poor girl today just kept crying and saying her head hurt, she just doesn't feel good at all.

Camden had no idea what was going on but he enjoyed running around and thought it was REALLY cool since Keaton and Tiana loved them!

Hearts!

Quite the get-ups!  They love playing train around the living room.  You will have to excuse the underwear clad little boy.   He was doing amazing until we all got sick, he is still going poop on the potty all the time and he asks to go potty at least half of the time on the potty.  So for 18 months old, that is not bad at all.  Since I have been sick too this has actually been quite a relief.  I selfishly would rather have him wait to potty train until this summer.

Valentine's day was filled with a few errands and doctor's appointments... but we did have heart pizza for dinner with chocolate fondue for dessert.
Strawberries were her favorite!

The chocolate in general was his favorite!

You know he is REALLY sticky when the bowl stays on his head without being held.  We don't normally let him get this crazy with his dinner but hey, it was Valentine's day!

Keaton enjoyed it too but he doesn't have as big of a sweet tooth as Tiana and Camden do.  We finally had to just cut them off!

Valentine's

When I saw a link to these Valentine's I knew that these would be perfect for Keaton this year.  (Can't find the link again... sorry)  We went and picked out a sheet of foam and cut them out.  They were a hit at his Valentine's Day party today!

After naps we got to eat ours!  They were adorable!
