Fred the Monkey Jumps to the Papaya tree

Meet Fred

Fred is the resident monkey, he comes around every day around 5:30 in the morning and 5:30 at night!  We were told that here it isn't "fighting like cats and dogs" but "fighting like dogs and monkeys".  The dogs and cats get along great, we have seen them sleeping together.  Monkeys however they do NOT like. The safety of the monkey depends upon it not being on the ground.  The owners here have left a papaya tree just for Fred!  This monkey is hilarious, not afraid of people at all and in fact he puts on a little show.  He is quite dramatic!  We have a couple videos but they are being VERY slow to upload.
This is the roof of the owners house that is right on the other side of a vine wall barrier outside our door.  Above us is an outdoor living space for hanging out and that puts us at a very good viewpoint.  The roof is only about 10 feet from where we were standing and then he jumped over to where we were about 5 feet away.  Next time we are coming armed with a banana because I guess he loves to get fed up there.

Taunting the dog down below!

He then jumped to the papaya tree, the rail in this photo is right in front of us and only about 5 feet away is the tree!

SOOOO fun!

Working on our Sun Tan

Well today didn't consist of much.  We were planning on renting a car today and exploring except there were NO cars to be found!  We have one reserved for Friday but we are hoping we can get one tomorrow. We have heard that you need a 4x4 to really be able to go to different beaches.  So after walking around to all the different car rental places we just decided to work on our sun tans!  We went to the market and got little bananas,an avacado and crackers to eat on the beach!
How many days left? 7!!

This is what you call a hot-dog!  He just kept laying in the water letting the waves wash over him!
As I was writing this we heard the dogs start barking here... we were told that the only time they bark is when Fred comes around (the resident monkey).  We looked out our door and sure enough there he was, on the roof RIGHT outside our door.  We got lots of photos and videos so we will start getting them ready to post for you to see!!!

Dinner and Sunset

We ate dinner on the beach, at sunset and had probably the best fresh seafood that we have ever had!!
Our table was the far left one closest to the water.

This is a river that flows into the ocean creating a great surf spot.

I love designs in the sand of the dunes.

Jumbo shrimp on rice and veggies!

YUM, lobster with veggies and rice!

Pangas... a favorite restaurant so far!  We finished off the evening with a walk in the dark along the beach by the light of our cell phone flashlight... I almost stepped on a crab which was just a tad terrifying! We then got homemade ice cream, coconut (with chunks of coconut bits in it) and almond!  Delicious!
We also found out that our little hotel has a resident monkey!!  NOW we must look for him tomorrow!

Hello from Costa Rica!

We made it down to Tamarindo late last night!  We could have been anywhere since it was dark but the warmth felt wonderful!  We are staying in a tiny little bed and breakfast boutique hotel that is awesome.  It is new and only has 6 rooms.  The owners are american so that really helps to be able to get recommendations.  We will post every day so that the kids can see what we are up to!  We spent the day exploring town and laying by the pool.  It is really hot but there is a wonderful wind that makes it very nice.  It isn't near as lush jungle as we expected here!
This cracks me up, this is at a Y in the road.... better know what you are looking for or be able to read REALLY fast to know where to go!

Mommy being very goofy while Daddy takes forever trying to figure out the camera!

Much better!

LOOK we are only 7 KM from Hawaii!

Look Missy Tiana, there are LOTS of shells!!!

As promised here is our count down for the day! 8 more days until we are home!

Very dry and desert here but there is a HUGE beach!
We are off to dinner, we heard there are sometimes monkeys that hang out in the trees by this restaurant!  We will take pictures if we see any!!  Love you kids!!!

Valentine's Day Cookie Decorating

We had fun for Dinner, lots of hearts and red... the kids were VERY excited!!

Saturday Sierra and Jean had a cookie get together for the little kids here at our house.  It was a little bit crazy, quite a bit loud, and lots of fun.
Just a few pairs of shoes!!

Just a little bit of frosting!

LOVE that Sierra is in the very middle of a snowball fight!
