Sitting up playing with toys just like a big girl!

We had a playdate this week with Aunna! Tiana loved playing with the grass while Keaton and Aunna played and the Mommies talked.

The first sign of officially having a big boy came today from Keaton.

This morning at breakfast he was struggling with feeding himself cereal. To prevent what sometimes ends up in a breakdown I asked him if he would like Mommy to help. He looks up at me and calmly and in a matter of fact tone said "Nope, I do it". Since then that has been all I have heard all day. I have had to learn a little patience when things take longer that if I would just help him. Overall though it is good for him to be learning how to do things instead of depending on us.

His two favorite topics of conversation right now are "pumkicks, and popkits" (pumpkins and pockets) He has to say hi to our pumpkins on the front porch a couple of times a day. He knows which one belongs to each person in the family. He has discovered that his pants have "popkits" which can hold all sorts of treasures. In his quest for things to put into his "popkits" today he discovered Daddy's drawer of change. He ran around with "mine moneys in pants popkits" all day. I could tell when he was coming because of the jingling! Next on our agenda is to get him a piggy bank for his (or our) "moneys" that he happens upon. Finders keepers I suppose.

Lastly while singing grace for dinner he chimed in. We always sing Day by Day because he has learned most of that one. Where it says "Father now we Thank Thee, For our daily Bread" he usually just sings "Thank-u por are bread". This time Keaton sang "Daddy, Thank-u..."! I just about completely cracked up laughing but I suppose in his mind Father and Daddy are one in the same. Guess we will have to work on that one!

Our Pumpkins

This morning we headed out to the "pumkick patch" to pick out our carving pumpkins.

Keaton found Sissy's pumpkin right off.

Then followed up with any one he could pick up.
Sissy held on to Keaton's and looked around in pure amazement.


We also got to see the animals in the petting zoo which Keaton LOVED. He got to see "ducky's, Moo's, bird's, eebra's, baa's, and neigh's" (geese, cow, emu, zebra, sheep, pony's).

Sissy was NOT to keen on the geese which were quite loud. Other than that she did great with the crowd.

We got boring hunting for the perfect carving pumpkin.
Of course this one turned into a bat!

Pretending that he was going to eat it.... promptly after Mommy said "Keaton don't put that in your mouth".



And of course the tongue is out again.

We then rushed home to clean up and head over to a Ember's birthday party!
We made her a little apron so that she can help in the kitchen!

1 2-year old + Croup + Prednisone =

1 very sick boy with lots of pent up energy!

He is finally getting better so that is a relief!

Keaton had RSV when he was about 16 months old and ever since then whenever he gets the slightest bug it turns into Croup. He was a little "barky" with his cough on Wednesday but not bad. Thursday morning he woke up panicking because he couldn't breath. Thank goodness Daddy was still home because Bug and I hopped in the car and drove straight to quick care. They put him on a steroid nebulizer treatment immediately and sent us home with Prednisone and a follow up appointment. The first day I didn't really notice any difference but once he starts feeling better the meds REALLY make him have lots of energy. I can't complain to much because he is doing LOTS better now so it was worth it. Needless to say I am looking forward to naps again!

Happy Birthday Bug!

How in 2 short years you went from this....

to this at one year... to this at 18 months.....to the bundle of talking energy we have now... just blows my mind.

Apparently 2 is the new 16. We headed out the door this morning only for Keaton to declare "I wan drive Mom." Very plainly as if he was now old enough so HE would be doing the driving today.

We love how grown up he is.

Keaton you are at such a fun age right now. We love your little conversations. You are talking SO well! We are so impressed with your use of sentences and even using I. How and when you grew up we aren't sure because it seems to have flown by.

We love how well you share with everyone. At your birthday party you were more that happy to make sure everyone got toys. You make such a wonderful big brother. You love your sister more than anything else. If you are apart for any amount of time you kiss and hug her and won't let her out of your sight.

You are still quite the cuddle bug. You crawl in bed with Mommy every morning for some cuddle time. Lately during any cuddle time you ask us to "sing meeting" songs. You will sing along getting some of the words in that you know.

We couldn't have wished or asked for a better bundle of energy. Two years later and you are still our Bug. We love you more that we can ever describe. Thank you for being such a good little boy.

We hope to get those 2 year photos taken sometime this week.

Keaton's Birthdays

Here we have had two birthdays for our two year old and he hasn't even reached his ACTUAL birthday! The morning of the party he HAD to have his hat on.

All of Keaton's friends that were able to come help him celebrate. Keaton had a ball! He hardly ate any cake because he didn't want to stop playing.
Long after everyone left he kept right on playing with all of his balloons.
We woke up Saturday to a chilly morning so they watched the fire!

We had a lazy day playing with his balloons and waiting for the family party that night.

When we brought the trike in he was busy playing with his Barrel of Monkeys. He glanced over his shoulder and says "bike" and goes back playing. It took him a second to realize that WAIT that "bike" is for me!! He can't ride it quite yet but with some practice inside this winter he should be a pro by next summer! And of course it is a hit because it is a "Bonco" (bronco) trike!

The bucket has been the biggest hit. He already has dumped out the blocks that were in it multiple times to walk around the house with the bucket on his head.

Excited to be able to catch up with his uncles who came home from Moscow for his party!

And all partied out and not feeling to great today we had to take it easy with him. He seems to have caught some sort of bug. We turned down the volume on his Elmo DVD so he decided to hear it better he needed to hold the speakers up to his ears!
