House Photos and Furniture Refinish

I tackeled some big furniture refinishing jobs for the first time last winter! I had no clue what I was getting myself into. A lot of time and energy goes into it BUT it is totally worth the effort!
BEFORE: I got this hutch at a consignment store for a great price. It had an awful paint job and this is what started my adventure!
Chalk paint and then a glaze to get the look I wanted.

Oil rubbed bronze spray paint for the knobs and I was done! I showed the hutch to my grand parents and they remarked that this was the exact color of their dining room set from 1953!! They had a really good harvest that year so they spend a lot on their very first big furniture purchase. They asked if I wanted the set and we said of course!!!
BEFORE: This was the dining set before. It is a Drexel so it is VERY solidly made! The top needed refinished BUT it is WALNUT underneath so I planned on stripping it and staining it. These photos the color is a little off... it is a warmer look and matches the hutch PERFECTLY!
BEFORE: The chair pads needed some updated upolstery! wink emoticon I knew right away that I would use an imitation leather on them to update the look.

AFTER: Table and Chairs. I liked it before but seeing it done... we LOVE it! It has a leaf that goes in it but I am waiting until spring to tackel that project. The table stretches out to 12 feet!!!!! So "we" (my wonderful hubby) plans on eventually making a few more walnut leaves to expand it.
AFTER: The imitation leather on the seats really update the look of the chairs.  I was so nervous about the table top but it turned out way beyond my every expectation!
BEFORE: The buffet went with the set as well. The top on this was in great shape but I wanted it to match the table.

AFTER: This is what the buffet looks like now! I love the dark top and the Oil rubbed Bronze spray paint helped the handles. I also got the huge mirror from my grandparents... that got a coat of spray paint as well! Nothing is safe I tell ya! Not since I discovered that spray paint!

My favorite room of the house! I love my kitchen!!!

Great Room.

Antique Cameras take up my mantel... no big surprise there! Since this photo I got a 1901 Brownie Camera from my Aunt to add to my collection!

Entry bench with an entry to the kitchen on the right and the powder room on the left!

Basement kids' art center!

I love how this all came together! Those OLD license plates are all from Grandpa Z which makes them extra special!

Guest Room!
I still need to get photos of the kids' bedrooms as well as our bedroom! I have been waiting until I am actually done decorating them!
